Dressing the table for the holidays

The Christmas tree may be the centrepiece of your holiday style, but the dining table is a close second. Here, we look at the key to creating the perfect tablescape.

Whether you are hosting a sophisticated dinner or a casual lunch for family and friends, these four stylish looks will prove popular.

1. Luxe

Our favourite look of the season incorporates soft blush with sharp gold and hints
of white.

  2. Traditional

Think white and green with accents of red. Use pinecones, fir and poincietta or berries to achieve the style.

3. Winter romance

Queensland’s Christmas may be set in the blistering heat, but who says you can’t celebrate the beauty of a white and silver holiday? Crank up the air-conditioning and create your own wonderland. Tip – add a sprinkle of fresh greenery to the table.

4. Seasonal sophistication

In need of a tablescape that impresses? Invest in a navy and gold theme. Incorporate subtle elements of black and white to complete the look.

Pretty as a picture

Garlands and wreaths laid along the surface of the table, decorated with baubles, create a beautiful centrepiece for your Christmas table. Pictured is the Pinecone Swag from Domayne.

PRODUCT ALERT

The large, decorative bases known as charger plates have had a resurgence in popularity this year. From gold to silver and right through to red, you will find a wide variety at homewares stores.
