The Anywhere Festival is coming to the Sunshine Coast next month, with a host of events already announced for the event that promises to hold performances anywhere except where you’d expect to find them.
Independent Sunshine Coast artist Hayley Condon (pictured) will be showcasing Fish Out of Water, a show the University of the Sunshine Coast alumnus created for the FAST (Festival of Australian Student Theatre) festival in Brisbane late last year.
Ms Condon says the show explores how people feel out of place in different social situations. “The show is an immersive piece where the audience is invited to be a part of a social anxiety group,” she says.
“The show includes quirky moments and is led by Matilda Award-nominated actress Joanne Kohnke.”
An all-female psychological drama titled Bea in the Basement will also captivate audiences during Anywhere Festival.
Written, directed and produced by Victoria Posner, the play follows Bea, who is on her way to university when she is kidnapped and locked in a basement with Gia. Who has taken them? A mysterious man upstairs. Why are they there? They have no idea. How will they survive? The only way is for them to stick together.
Fish Out of Water is on at Kai Coffee in the Harmony estate on May 19 and May 26 at 5pm and 7pm both days. Tickets are $20 and are available at anywhere.is/fish. Bea in the Basement is on at SunCentral Basement in Maroochydore on May 18 at 2pm and 6.30pm. Tickets are available at anywhere.is/listings/basement/.
