Airport fund helps community groups soar

Community groups are benefiting from a cash injection that will help boost initiatives across the Sunshine Coast.

It is thanks to Sunshine Coast Airport’s 2025 Community Support Fund, which is helping 18 successful recipients with up to $1000. Now in its second year, the fund attracts applications from a range of organisations, including youth sports, environmental initiatives, wellness programs and community events.

Sunshine Coast Airport CEO Chris Mills says the calibre of submissions and the community groups’ passion are inspiring.

“We are incredibly proud to support another round of local organisations through our Community Support Fund,” Mr Mills says. “It’s clear our community is rich with dedicated individuals creating positive change.”

Coolum Beach Surf Life Saving Club president Jake Harris says the funding will make a real difference.

“We had budgeted to purchase a new rescue board this year, which is essential equipment for our Nippers program,” Mr Harris says.

“Thanks to the Community Support Fund, we’ve been able to cover that cost with the grant, meaning the money we had put aside can now be redirected to other important areas, like improved training programs to give our kids a better experience.”
