A Wurtulla family is celebrating a rare sporting achievement, with a trio of siblings selected to represent Queensland across three age groups at the Australian Youth Volleyball Championships in Perth from September 20.
Maliha, Fesaitu, and Leilina Flexman will compete in the Under-17 Girls, Under-15 Boys and Under-14 Girls Queensland indoor volleyball squads respectively. The siblings also represented Queensland at the Australian Youth Beach Volleyball Championships in Coolangatta in March, marking a second 2026 national campaign.
“As you can imagine, flying three elite junior athletes from the Sunshine Coast to Western Australia is a massive financial undertaking for a local family,” their mother Kim Flexman says.
