Sunshine Coast water-skiing veteran Fred Douglas has added another achievement to his remarkable career.
He took out the Over-75 Men’s Slalom World Championship title at the International Waterski and Wakeboard Federation World Over-35 Waterski Championships in Canada.
Held from July 21-27, the event attracted more than 250 competitors from 20 countries, with Australia’s 18-member team securing seven medals.
Douglas delivered a technically superb performance, completing passes at 18, 16 and 14 metres to claim gold and set a new Queensland state record.
He says the victory is the result of years of preparation and proves age should never be a barrier to pursuing ambitious goals.
