Infrastructure funds pave way for 7100 new homes

More than 7100 homes have been unlocked across the Sunshine Coast and Gympie regions through more than $125million in state government investment for essential infrastructure.

The investment, delivered through the Residential Activation Fund, is aimed at providing infrastructure such as roads, water, sewerage and power to make land ready for residential development.

Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure and Planning Jarrod Bleijie says the government is commitment to helping to provide homes.

“For too long, the dream of having a place of your own was denied to too many Queenslanders across the Sunshine Coast and Gympie regions,” he says.

More than $82million will go towards critical infrastructure in the east of the evolving Maroochydore City Centre, paving the way for apartments and improved road connections.

More than $4million also is going towards a site at Noosa.
