Levi is already spinning his career aspirations

WORDS: Abbey Cannan.

Coolum student Levi Durran, 15, known professionally as DJ Duzza, is quickly making a name for himself, following in the footsteps of international stars including Dom Dolla and Fisher.

In just 13 months, Levi has played an impressive 58 gigs across the region, including the New Year’s Eve fireworks in Coolum.

An Instagram video of his New Year’s performance went viral, racking up over 186,000 views and attracting widespread attention.

“It blows my mind thinking that many people have seen a video of me,” Levi says.

Self-taught and learning everything from YouTube, Levi wants DJing to become his full-time career.

“The ultimate goal for DJ Duzza is to be playing around the world at festivals and events and put on amazing shows,” he says.

His favourite gigs so far include playing on the big stage at The Station with Raw Ordio, performing at The Nurture Festival, New Year’s Eve in Coolum, and spinning for local radio station Hot FM at its Mooloolaba Loo send-off.

Levi credits local mentors Nikki Desaint and Brett, from Raw Ordio, with offering guidance and inspiration.

“I love the shows that Dom Dolla and Fisher put on and want to be like them,” he says.

When asked for advice for other young people chasing their dreams, Levi says, “Just go for it.”

“You have to make sure you commit to it fully, though, and you just never know where you end up,” he adds.

With his talent, drive and viral exposure, DJ Duzza is definitely one Sunshine Coast teen to watch.
