Caloundra business owners are rolling out the red carpet to give shoppers a VIP experience unlike anything seen before on the bustling main street.
In a first for Bulcock Street retailers, select businesses on Bulcock Street from Minchinton Street through to Knox Street and surrounding laneways will remain open from 4.30pm to 7.30pm in a special late- night shopping event on September 26.
Cozie Swimwear owner Selina Smith says a small taste of participating retailers includes Chaps Menswear, Shannon’s Shoes, The Bookshop at Caloundra, Cherylrose Homewares and Gifts, Whitepepper Homewares, Hot Hair Works, Mannequin Lane and her own store, along with many more.
The event – which is a collaboration between My Weekly Preview, Downtown Caloundra, Sunshine Coast Council and Caloundra business owners – will be a truly different experience, with concierges decked out in suits and red sashes to assist shoppers with locating the ideal store to visit to find what they are looking for.
“There will be lots of giveaways on the night and the first 50 customers to accumulate a spend of more than $50 in our participating stores during the three-hour event can take their receipts to the My Weekly Preview stand to claim a gift bag,” Ms Smith says.
“Participating shops have pitched in to create an incredible gift bag and shoppers will have an amazing shopping experience as some of the retailers put on nibbles and champagne in their stores to create a real party atmosphere in stores to complement the live entertainment happening out on the street.”
Ms Smith says the event will give those who have difficulty visiting the popular shopping strip during business hours the chance to support local businesses as well as check out the new streetscape, with council works to upgrade Bulcock Street and surrounds now completed.
“We are very proud of our new-look street and we want to share that with shoppers as well as create a new and vibrant atmosphere in the precinct,” she says.
“This has the potential to become a quarterly event, so we’d love people to come down and show their support and help us to celebrate.”
