Sanders steps up as lift the lid walk ambassador

The Mooloolaba Rotary Club recently had the privilege of hosting one of Australia’s most respected psychologists, Professor Matthew Sanders AO PhD, at a special dinner meeting at Mooloolaba Bowls Club.

Professor Sanders, founder of the internationally acclaimed Triple P – Positive Parenting Program, captivated the audience with his insights into the importance of strong family foundations in preventing mental health challenges in children and young people.

He spoke passionately about the program’s global reach – now delivered in 76 countries and 23 languages – and its remarkable local impact, with more than 10,500 Sunshine Coast parents taking part in online Triple P programs over the past three years.

The evening also marked a significant milestone as Professor Sanders was formally welcomed as ambassador for the 10th anniversary of the Lift the Lid Walk for Mental Health.

His acceptance of this role reinforces the event’s focus on raising awareness, reducing stigma and funding crucial research through Australian Rotary Health.

Community members are invited to join the Lift the Lid Walk on Sunday, October 19, setting off from The Surf Club Mooloolaba at 8am.

The Lift the Lid Walk event is a national initiative used to raise awareness on mental illness across Australia.

The walk offers a chance to connect, reflect and support those impacted by mental health challenges, while contributing to vital research that changes lives.

Hosted by the Rotary Clubs of Australia, funds raised from the walks go into mental health research through Australian Rotary Health.

With Professor Sanders lending his voice and leadership, this year’s walk promises to be the most inspiring yet.
