Signature events add to festival good taste

The Curated Plate showcases the region’s produce and beverages, restaurants, food artisans and producers across a 10-day celebration.

A food market featuring handcrafted cheeses, breads, chocolates and a craft beer and spirits festival on the banks of a river have been added to the program of a Sunshine Coast culinary showcase.

The menu has just been served up for the region’s premier food and drink festival, The Curated Plate, which will take place between July 26 and August 4 this year.

The 2024 program features three signature events, including two new ones.

The Sunny Coast Breweries and Distilleries Festival will showcase ‘Australia’s craft beer capital’. A range of craft beer and premium spirits will be available in a relaxed festival atmosphere at Cotton Tree Park on July 27 and 28.

Another signature event will be a one-off food market for families and food lovers, to be held at The Station, Birtinya.

The event will open its doors to more than 70 stallholders showcasing Sunshine Coast products and giving patrons the chance to fill up their pantries and indulge in a diverse array of flavours and delights.

With the support of the Food and Agribusiness Network (FAN), stalls will showcase Sunshine Coast farm-made produce, including handcrafted cheeses, artisanal breads and pastries, boutique chocolates, grass-fed beef and lamb, local honey and premium coffee and tea.

In addition to the signature events, the program will feature a variety of experiences including cooking classes, culinary cruises, degustation dinners, long lunches and brunches, farm tours and high teas.

Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli says it is time for the region’s cooks and chefs to shine as they serve up delicious dishes, featuring homegrown produce and products.

“This event provides the opportunity for our region to showcase its fantastic offerings,” Mayor Natoli says.

“This ranges from our plentiful produce to an array of stunning restaurants and our amazing producers.

“More than 200 businesses from across the region’s food and agribusiness sector and tourism and hospitality industry have worked together to prepare the 10-day food and drink showcase that has more than 90 delicious events to choose from.”
