Sports lunch champions youth

Campbell Construction Co’s annual Sports Lunch raised a record $52,500 for grassroots sport.

It is the largest amount ever raised at the event, and every dollar goes directly to youth sporting programs across the Sunshine Coast.

The sold-out lunch on July 17 at The Surf Club Mooloolaba brought together local families, businesses and sports fans for an afternoon built around a simple but powerful theme: “You can’t be what you can’t see”.

The idea speaks to something close to the heart of the day: that young people need to see what’s possible before they can chase it, and that every great sporting journey begins at the local field, beach or club.

Hot FM’s Sam and Ash kept the room entertained as MCs, guiding a line-up of speakers who each shared a very different path to the top.

Former World Champion surfer Joel Parkinson, rugby league legend and NRLW coach Scott Prince, four-time premiership winner Julia Robinson and racing great Jim Cassidy took to the stage to share their stories, offering local kids a real glimpse of where hard work and belief can lead.

The funds raised will support three programs that give young people the chance to learn, grow and belong.

Mooloolaba Nippers builds water safety, confidence and courage in the region’s youngest locals. The Brisbane Broncos Game Development Program opens up rugby league pathways across the region. The Falcons Women’s BMD Pathways backs the next generation of female athletes as they develop their skills and pursue their potential.

For the family-owned company, the day reflects its founding ethos: “We care – built into everything we do”.

Campbell Construction Co thanks everyone who attended, donated and gave their time to make this year’s Sports Lunch the most successful yet.

Brand manager Cass Green says the result reflects just how special this community is.

“This community blows me away every single year,” she says. “As a parent, I see first-hand how important sport is for kids. It doesn’t just keep them active: it builds resilience, confidence and character. When a community rallies together like this, it creates something bigger than a fundraiser. It helps shape better humans and a stronger community for all of us.”
