Starting the right conversation

A new event aims to empower the community through conversation.

A new platform to create awareness, educate, empower and strengthen the community has been launched by the Sunshine Coast Council.

The first of four In Conversation events to be held at Venue 114 will take place on International Women’s Day on March 8, 2019 and will feature guest speakers Jillian Whiting from Network 7 and Allison Baden-Clay Foundation chair of the board of directors Vanessa Fowler.

Ms Fowler is sister of the late Allison Baden-Clay, a victim of domestic violence who was murdered by her husband in 2012. Since Ms Baden-Clay’s death, Ms Fowler and her family have been committed to the formation and growth of the foundation.

The event includes a lunch by Something for Catering and beverages, followed by a Q and A session and entertainment that is in tune with the 2019 International Women’s Day theme of More Power Together.

Tickets are already available for the event. The other In Conversation events will be held on June 21 (linked with the disability sector), September 12 will have an RU OK Day theme and the final event on November 22 will celebrate International Men’s Day.

Tickets purchased before January 1, 2019 for the International Women’s Day event on March 8 are $100 per person. Visit scvenuesand events.com.au to book.
