Thirty-seven young basketballers from across the Sunshine Coast have returned home inspired after taking part in a basketball experience with Australian NBA star Josh Giddey in Brisbane.
Organised by the Sunshine Coast Slammers, the session included professional coaching stations followed by an intimate, small-group experience.
Founded just over a year ago by volunteers Paul Foley and Jenny Williams, the Sunshine Coast Slammers has grown from three junior players to four teams in the Coast competition.
“That level of access is incredibly rare and created memories these children and their families will treasure forever,” Jenny says. “Seeing the excitement on the children’s faces made every late night and every phone call worthwhile.”
