Sunshine Coast shines in Brisbane 2032 olympic emblem reveal

The unveiling of the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games emblem brings the excitement of the Games one step closer, marking a significant milestone for the Sunshine Coast as a proud co-host city.

Against the backdrop of the Glass House Mountains, Olympian Natalie Cook and local Paralympian Alexa Leary discovered a piece of the emblem high in the trees at Wild Horse Mountain, creating a uniquely Sunshine Coast moment on the journey towards the full emblem reveal.

Sunshine Coast Mayor Rosanna Natoli says having a piece of the emblem discovered in the region fills her with enormous pride.

“The Brisbane 2032 emblem belongs to all of us and its reveal is an incredibly exciting moment for the Sunshine Coast as a co-host city,” she says.

“It is a cheeky, beautiful symbol that reflects the people of the Sunshine Coast and Queensland perfectly.  It’s cute, friendly and colourful.”

The emblem is the crest of a pink cockatoo, an inland Australian bird, with the colour stylised to resemble an Olympic and Paralympic flame.

The Paralympic emblem will feature the more familiar yellow of the sulphur-crested cockatoo.

Attention now turns to progressing key Games venue projects, including the Sunshine Coast Mountain Bike Centre and Sunshine Coast Stadium upgrade, which will deliver lasting infrastructure for the community.
