Website helps you choose your own adventure

Sunshine Coast Council has unveiled an Australian-first with new website Adventure Sunshine Coast.

Did you know there are 569 kilometres of signed trails across the region and the Sunshine Coast Council maintain 146 kilometres of these?

It is now easier than ever before to plan your next Sunshine Coast adventure with the launch of a  new online guide to our great outdoors.

Called Adventure Sunshine Coast, the Australian-first website showcases more than 150 free self-guided walking, cycling, mountain biking, horse riding and canoeing activities for people of all abilities – whether you’re a first-timer or experienced adventurer.

Community and Environment portfolio councillor Jenny McKay says Adventure Sunshine Coast is the first trail-finding website of its kind in Australia.

“It’s unique because you can search all outdoor recreation activities on one website – whether it’s a walk, ride or paddle adventure,” she says.

“Simply choose your activity and select the difficulty level to view all your local trails on a map, then browse the descriptions, photos and reviews to take your pick of the land and water trails on offer.

“With Adventure Sunshine Coast, there really is a new adventure around every corner,” Cr McKay adds. “Many people may not even know how many trails are right on their doorstep.”

To celebrate the launch of the platform, which is provided and maintained by the council and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service, the council will host a series of free guided tours from April 8 to 14.

Bookings are essential and spaces are limited for these exciting free family-friendly events.
