After a nation-wide search, Visit Sunshine Coast has selected the Sunshine Coast’s first ‘chief star counter’.
Nine-year-old Sarah Meldrum and her mum Rebecca have travelled from Albury to the Sunshine Coast hinterland to officially take up the role, following the region’s recent International Dark Sky Reserve recognition.
They completed their official onboarding on July 16 with a private stargazing experience, spending hours counting more than 2000 stars visible to the naked eye and in excess of 10,000 through a telescope.
