The Sunshine Coast Women’s Lifestyle Expo is celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, but it’s the event that is giving away the presents.
The new-look expo, run by director Alexandra Brunswick (pictured), will feature 100 exhibitors, more than 60 free workshops on a vast range of topics, and an expo first – a fashion show.
Continuing with the tradition of accessibility, women of all ages can enjoy it all for just a gold coin donation.
Ms Brunswick, who is a lawyer at Suncoast Community Legal Service, is looking forward to opening the two-day event on August 31.
“I have to say in my job as a family lawyer, I usually come across people who are at their worst time in life and I have enjoyed putting them back on their path,” she says. “But at the expo, people are already on their path raring to go and all positive. I love dealing with that energy. It’s really satisfying.”
The expo attracts thousands of women and Ms Brunswick says the inclusion of the fashion show – which will showcase local and national designers – will be a major drawcard.
Life Law Solutions principal lawyer Elizabeth Fairon is among those hosting workshops and will present four sessions that will empower women to know their legal rights and inspire their business aspirations. Ms Fairon, the author of Trust Yourself: How Empowered Decision Making Will Help You Resolve Your Family Law Matter, is a firm believer in education.
She says she’s looking forward to sharing her wealth of knowledge with like-minded women.
“There is a real mentality that if you want knowledge in family law matters, you have to pay for a lawyer to get it. But in reality, the vast majority of matters don’t need lawyers,” Ms Fairon says. “Being empowered in any area of life gives you the freedom to achieve anything you want to.”
The 2018 Women’s Lifestyle Expo will be held at the Calvary Centre, 212 Crosby Hill Road, Buderim on August 31 from 9am to 7pm and September 1 from 9am to 4pm. Visit womenslifestyleexpo.com.au.
