The 2021 Coast to Coast Dragon Boat Festival reached new heights of success as participants returned to Lake Kawana for day three of the action on Mother’s Day.
The three-day event features hundreds of paddlers from 27 clubs competing across several distances and age groups, marking the state’s first interstate regatta since 2019.
Athletes of all ages competed in the 2km, 1km, 500m and 200m races, to the delight of the crowds gathered along the shores of Lake Kawana.
President of Dragon Boat Queensland, Mark Slater says it was a great way to finish off the season.
“It’s basically been about celebrating what is dragon boating in what has been a fairly disrupted COVID year, so it was a good opportunity to finish our season on a bit of a high note with a lot of fun,” says Slater.
