A dreamy escape

Surfers Paradise proves to be the perfect family-friendly destination for a weekend getaway.

As I drift in and out of a pure bliss-induced semi-conciousness, I can’t help but give myself a mental pat on the back. I’ve fulfilled the brief of the ultimate family getaway.

I’ve managed to enjoy an hour-and-a-half of relaxation and indulgent pampering at the Calmer Therapies day spa (I have to recommend the prescription facial and relaxation massage).

My husband is still celebrating after yesterday’s trip to Cbus Super Stadium where we witnessed his favourite NRL team, the Titans, crush the opposition.

My mum has enjoyed the wining, dining and live music on offer at the colourful and lively Cavill Avenue. We even managed to catch the third annual Surfers Paradise LIVE Music Festival.

Meanwhile, our three-year-old son is enthralled by our home for the three nights – the family-friendly Mantra Crown Towers Resort. What’s not to love – the lagoon-style pool surrounded by a sandy beach, the pirate ship waterslide, heated pool, playground or the views from our two-bedroom ocean view apartment to the adventure park across the street? The bright lights of the city and the passing trams also capture his young heart.

For a busy family this really is the ultimate place to escape for a relaxing few days. Later that day, as I sink into a sun lounger and soak up the warm, autumn sun, I’m already planning our return.

Surfers Paradise is always a winner.
